Canarias Salsa Open celebrates its 20th edition in 2023 and there is nothing better to celebrate it than starting a project that has been working for two years in collaboration with hundreds of dance academies and scetor professionals in several European countries. Alongside the Canarian championship, the Megadancers: European Salsa League will also be held, in which couples and soloists will try to become winners and win cash prizes and trophies.
The double event will take place in different locations in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on 1, 2 and 3 September. In addition to the competitions, there will be dance workshops, pool parties, social dancing and group performances. The events hall La Cascada will be the centre of operations of the festival. The two championships will take place there, while the workshops and pool party will be held in other venues and hotels in the city.
With three months to go until the call for entries, qualifiers have already been held and will continue to be held in the European countries in which dance academies have so far shown interest. The response, according to the organisers, has been surprising, and hundreds of dancers have shown interest. The implementation and success of the first meeting will be an important boost for the economic activity of the city and companies in the sector. In previous meetings it had been agreed to hold the event in Puerto de la Cruz, following conversations with the mayor of the city, Marco Gonzálezbut in the end the venue will be the capital of the island, Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
After several editions, Santa Cruz has become an important reference in the Canary Islands for the number of festivals and dance events of different types that have consolidated their development in the city. Registration for both competitions is done exclusively online through the official website megadancers.com where there is also direct ticket sales, official registration form and extensive information on the call.
