Megadancers announces the opening of a new category to be played on Sunday 3rd September, in order to allow the participation of couples of the same gender. In response to the registration request from several European couples, the technical management of the championship has decided to create this new category, which will be governed by the same rules already published, with some specificities that have already been incorporated into the rules of the competition.
This category will be played as long as the minimum of five registered couples is exceeded. As the technical management and the producer have stated, it is not a question of "couples of different or the same sex". What is important in this case is the gender, and therefore the talent, eye-catching nature and quality of the choreographies are valued regardless of the sex of its components. "We are not the ones to discriminate against any dancer because of who they sleep with or who they love", they stated.
The organisers have also announced that the "Same Genger" couples from the Canary Islands who wish to participate will do so directly in the Megadancers, as there is no such category in this edition of the Canarias Salsa Open.
The new category is called "Same Genre" and is the third category competing in this year's Megadancers European Salsa League, alongside couples and soloists.
